Full job description

Junior Technician

BGIS is recruiting for a Junior Technician to join our engineering team supporting a high-profile critical environment in London.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who has recently completed an apprenticeship or holds a Level 3 trade qualification and is looking to further develop their career within building services and critical environments.

The Role

You will support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and fault-finding across a range of mechanical and electrical systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to critical infrastructure including HVAC, UPS systems, generators, LV systems and BMS operation.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across M&E systems
Support fault finding and repairs on electrical and mechanical plant
Monitor building systems and environmental conditions via BMS
Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures
Support contractor management and supervise specialist subcontractors on site
Complete maintenance documentation and update CAFM systems accurately
Ensure compliance with Permit to Work, LOTO and Health & Safety procedures
Maintain plant rooms and engineering areas to a high standard
Support continuous improvement and personal development towards becoming a fully experienced technician

Requirements

NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Previous experience within building services or completion of a structured apprenticeship
Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems
Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
Able to work within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
Flexible approach to work and team support

Desirable

18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Legionella / L8 Awareness
Experience using CAFM systems such as Maximo
