Server — Job Overview

Hanawata is seeking friendly, reliable, and service-focused Servers to join our opening front-of-house team at our Japanese Donburi & Izakaya restaurant in Cannon Street, London. The Server will be responsible for delivering a warm guest experience, supporting smooth daily service, taking orders accurately, explaining menu items, and helping create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

This role is suitable for someone who enjoys working with people, can communicate clearly, and is willing to learn. Previous hospitality or restaurant experience is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided. We are looking for applicants who can learn quickly, work well under pressure, and represent Hanawata with professionalism, attentiveness, and a positive attitude.

Duties

Welcome guests warmly and provide attentive table service throughout their visit.
Take food and drink orders accurately and communicate them clearly to the kitchen and bar team.
Explain menu items, ingredients, allergens, and recommendations to guests when required.
Support beverage sales by recommending drinks, sake, or suitable pairings where appropriate.
Serve food and drinks efficiently while maintaining presentation and service standards.
Check on guests during their meal and respond to requests in a polite and timely manner.
Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to senior staff or management when needed.
Maintain clean, organised, and presentable tables, service stations, and front-of-house areas.
Prepare tables before service, including cutlery, menus, condiments, and other service items.
Process bills and payments accurately when required.
Work closely with runners, hosts, bartenders, kitchen staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth service flow.
Follow company standards for guest service, hygiene, safety, and professionalism.
Support the team during busy periods, including resetting tables, clearing plates, and assisting with general service tasks.

Required Job Experience

Previous experience as a server, waiter/waitress, runner, host, bar staff, or hospitality team member is preferred but not mandatory.
Applicants should be able to learn quickly and follow service procedures accurately.
Interest in Japanese food, donburi, izakaya-style dining, or sake is desirable.
Good communication skills and a friendly, guest-focused attitude are essential.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Good attention to detail, especially with orders, table presentation, and guest requests.
Confidence in speaking with guests and explaining menu items after training.
Reliable attendance and punctuality are expected.
Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues during busy service periods.
A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and professional appearance are essential.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
