We are seeking a Shift Station Manager to support out Liverpool Street Station team and customers. You will demonstrate effective collaborative leadership while managing station team performance within agreed resources and budgets, aligning with company processes and objectives. You will consistently deliver high standards of customer service, ensuring every interaction reflects professionalism and care. You will maintain a safe, secure, and efficient operational environment, meeting all regulatory and organisational requirements. To support, develop, and motivate team members to achieve individual and collective performance goals. You will also work closely with stakeholders, fostering strong relationships that enhance service delivery.
Every day will be different, but key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and direct the Station team in the delivery of a safe station environment, compliant with appropriate operational and safety standards. Direct resources in response to all accidents and incidents affecting the station environment and investigate all accidents and incidents, identifying root cause(s) to develop and drive improvement plans.
- Develop and implement station incident response plans, lead the industry response as a tactical or operational leader, undertake the role of station incident officer and co-ordinate responses for significant emergencies, service disruption and public crowd safety including returning station operations to steady state. Prepare and implement Event Management Plans for large scale and national events to deliver a safe and secure customer experience.
- Implement the National Rail Security Plan and Station Security Plan to deliver a secure station, maintaining legislative requirements and producing relevant records. Manage the security of identified risk areas, check inspections are completed and recorded and develop plans to prevent criminal activity and improve safety within the station.
- Manage the Station team on day to day basis by providing direction and support through positive engagement. Act as a role model and mentor, progressing agreed development plans and supporting delivery of objectives through continual monitoring and competence checks, to enhance team performance and benefit customer experience.
- Develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external customers including route controls, works delivery teams, British Transport Police, Train / Freight Operating Companies and retailers in order to improve incident management, emergency response and increase overall customer satisfaction at the station.
- Manage the programme delivery for station checks and risk assessments, including Landlord's approval, contractor compliance and self-assurance, in accordance with relevant legislation, company standards and procedures. Monitor and maintain station services and amenities in accordance with terms of Station Access Agreements, in partnership with Train Operating Companies and retail outlets.
- As Person Responsible for Fire Safety, achieve and maintain relevant competencies and implement all learnings, reviewing fire risk assessments and monitoring station environment for fire safety and compliance.
- Implement and maintain compliance with relevant industry and company standards, including health, safety and environmental policies and procedures and National Operating Procedures. Manage and deliver the competency assessment processes.
- Manage employee rosters and resources on a day to day and long term basis, delivering resource contingency plans as necessary within budget and procurement rules.
- Control and direct adherence to closed circuit TV and body worn video surveillance camera policies and administration of access control, including issuing station ID cards and vehicle permits, whilst maintaining compliance with company and industry standards and the General Data Protection Regulations.

We are looking for someone who meets the below essential criteria:
- Successful experience in leading and developing teams in an operational customer focussed environment
- Proven track record of customer relationship management with ability to understand customer needs
- Successful experience in operational management in a safety critical industry
- Previous safety management experience, including accident investigation and fire safety
- Previous experience in managing a large venue, encompassing public safety and crowd management
- Proven ability to influence decision making and build cross functional / cross company relationships
- Proven organisation and planning skills
- Understanding financial systems and budgets
- Knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
- Ability to gain appropriate assessor competence *
- Ability to gain Station Incident Officer / Tactical Incident Commander *
- Ability to gain safety management qualification IOSH/NEBOSH *
- Ability to attain Person Responsible for Fire Safety *
- Attain First Aid at Work / Mental Health First Aid *
