Job Introduction

About Us
Oxfordshire County Council are seeking to appoint an Administrative Support Officer at the Oxfordshire Museum Service. This is an exciting time to join the Oxfordshire Museum Service as we continue to develop our services and enhance access to our collections and services.

Our collection totals 112,000 objects from the palaeolithic era to contemporary collecting. We make our collections accessible via our range of services including through our key operating sites. The Oxfordshire Museum is our flag ship site and attracts over 100,000 visitors every year. The site includes an accessible green space, permanent and temporary galleries, learning space, café, shop and library. The Museum Resource Centre is our bespoke storage and conservation centre. Home to tens of thousands of objects as well as curatorial and learning staff accommodation. The service also manages two remote sites, Swalcliffe Barn (near Banbury), a medieval tithe barn with agricultural collections and the Bishops Palace (Witney) an open archaeological site of special historic interest.

About the Role
This role is one of two Administrative Support Officers at the Oxfordshire Museum Service who, as a team, will provide financial and administrative support to the whole Museum Service. This includes but is not limited to reporting on income and expenditure, the procurement of goods and services and generating invoices. The Administrative Support Officer is also responsible for supporting the monitoring of budgets and providing the Museum Service team with performance data.

The role will support the organisation and planning of events across the Museum sites. This can include working with external service providers, schools, visitors and members of the Oxfordshire County Council.

About you
The successful applicant will have experience working in administration and financial processes. They will be well organised, have an eye for detail and be able to prioritise diverse requests.
They will be a confident user of Microsoft packages, especially Microsoft Excel. Oxfordshire County Council use several IT packages for its finance and administration, so you will need to be interested in learning new skills.

The successful candidate will be a strong team player, who is willing to support their colleagues sometimes stepping outside of their role to help the Museum Service achieve its ambitions.
The successful candidate will feel comfortable engaging with members of the public, business partners and colleagues at Oxfordshire County Council and colleagues within the Museum service, via phone, written communication and face to face.
