Job Overview

We are seeking a versatile and motivated General Maintenance Engineer to join our growing maintenance team. This role is ideal for an individual with a broad range of practical skills across general building maintenance, including plumbing and carpentry.

We are particularly interested in someone who is eager to develop their skillset, undertake further training, and grow within the business. The successful candidate will be hands-on, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality maintenance services across a variety of environments.

Responsibilities

Carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks including repairs to doors, walls, ceilings, fixtures, and fittings
Perform basic carpentry work such as hanging doors, minor joinery, and repairs to frames and fittings
Undertake general plumbing duties including fixing leaks, replacing taps, unblocking drains, and maintaining pipework
Respond to reactive maintenance requests and prioritise workload effectively
Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks to maintain high building standards
Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs in a timely manner
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations
Communicate clearly with clients and team members regarding progress, issues, and follow-up work
Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, safe, and well organised

Experience & Skills

Experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a similar multi-skilled role
Practical skills across multiple trades, particularly plumbing and carpentry
Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and undertake training where required
Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to maintenance tasks
Good understanding of health and safety practices
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Good communication and customer service skills
Reliable, practical, and committed to delivering a high standard of work
Willingness to travel to different sites, with occasional overnight stays as required
Full UK driving licence (essential)
