Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Sandwich Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food service, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and dedicated to providing excellent customer experiences. This role involves preparing delicious sandwiches, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring the shop operates smoothly during busy hours. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Duties

Prepare a variety of sandwiches and salads according to established recipes and customer preferences
Serve customers efficiently at the counter, taking orders and handling payments accurately
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the food preparation area in compliance with food safety standards
Restock ingredients and supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
Upsell additional items such as drinks or snacks to maximise sales opportunities
Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and sanitising equipment and surfaces
Provide friendly and attentive service to create a welcoming environment for all customers
Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service without compromising quality

Qualifications

Experience in food preparation or restaurant service is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is desirable
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Previous kitchen or culinary experience is a plus but not mandatory
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently in a busy setting
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour to engage with customers effectively
Ability to work well within a team and adapt quickly to changing priorities
