Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Chef to oversee and manage culinary operations within an established busy Bar + Grill restaurant. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in food production and kitchen management, and a passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes excellence in food preparation and service. Previous grill experience and good knowledge of steak, cuts, quality beef cuts.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and support staff, to ensure smooth daily operations
Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet quality standards and customer expectations
Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards
Coordinate with the restaurant management team to plan menus, organise staffing schedules, and optimise workflow
Train and mentor junior staff to develop their skills in culinary techniques and customer service
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control waste to maintain cost efficiency
Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained properly and operated safely
Foster a positive team environment that encourages teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Proven supervising experience within a food production or hospitality setting
Extensive background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
Experience in a busy grill restaurant environment preferred
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with staff and management
Previous experience in hospitality or culinary roles such as chef or cook is highly desirable
