Job Introduction
We are currently recruiting for 2no. Project Engineers to join our Completions & Transitions team here at SCS Railways, supporting the Shafts & Headhouses delivery unit.
About the role:
This role is the technical lead and support to the construction site delivery team in post-construction assurance activities.
Scope of works will focus on the works post erection of steel frame, covering RC, blockwork, cladding, miscellaneous steelwork, passive fire protection, MEP interfaces and landscaping. Role is asset based
This role will plan, coordinate and report on post-construction assurance activities, completing tasks where other resource is constrained by delivering critical path pre-construction and construction activities.
This will include but is not limited to – the planning and delivery of all post-construction surveys, the monitoring and collation of construction records (whether self delivery or sub-contractor delivery), input to the logic and resourcing of the asset lookeahead programme, regular interfacing with suppliers and reporting to the Completion and Transitions lead.
Reporting Structure:
This role reports to the Assurance Lead for Shafts and Headhouses for technical guidance and to the Asset Lead for direction in the scope of their work and tasks.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Assurance

This role is responsible for developing a technical assurance flowchart and breakdown of work packages as directed by the construction manager and construction team leads (sub-agents/agents).

This must be presented and agreed with the area technical assurance lead.

Maintenance of this in line with emerging subcontract procurement and works delivery changes.
General Assurance

Understanding and ensuring the asset trackers are maintained, that the project CDE reflects plans and can be used to interrogate progress.
Assurance planning

Working with the delivery engineers to have an assurance lookahead programme for each work package, in place and populated no more than 2 weeks after the completion of the package.

To report on this weekly to the leads with justifications and mitigations for date movements.
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering

Main contractor and major project experience highly desirable

Ideally you are currently working at sub agent level

Knowledge and Understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training.

Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.

Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software).

Relevant CSCS Card

Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management

Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

Experience of temporary works and earthworks experience is a preference but the correct engineering acumen is more important.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
