Early Years is a tough old job, the little ones can be a handful, the families can be awesome, and you know, you’ve just got to love it.
Hello there, sorry, I was just typing away, minding my own business and ‘boom!’ there you are - anyhoo, it seems as though you may be looking for a job (I know, I’m a little bit of a mindreader, nothing at all to do with this being a job advert on a job seeking platform… nope, deffo a mindreader). As it happens, we’re on the hunt for a rather wonderful someone to join our ‘all together different’ Little Big Family. Yes, we are a little different, and yep, we definitely do look at our team in a very different way to other nurseries - for one, we’ve always looked at our bigger humans as exactly that… not lines on a spreadsheet, not ‘just another employee’. We know that feeling like you’re not noticed in a job can be awful, ask us how we know… did you ask? I can’t tell, because this isn’t really a two-way-chat, is it? Anyhoo, The Little Big Nursery is owned and managed by someone who started their career through Placement, then as a Practitioner, a Room Leader, a Deputy Manager, a Manager, and now an Owner Manager - they know first hand how hard this job is, so being there for the team, and doing everything possible to make this an awesome place to work… we got this.
We’re looking to fill a handful of positions here at The Little Big Nursery, so, if you’ve got your foot out, moving it around gingerly, trying to find that next step in your career, we’ve got something for you. On the other end of the scale, if you’re just looking to perhaps do a handful of hours a day, helping out, cool, you are in the right place (not the left one). In order to make things less cryptic (even though that’s more fun), here’s what we’ve got available at the moment;
Early Years Room Leader (Level 2+)
Full Time | 0-2 Years | All Year Round | Permanent | 4 or 5 Day Week | Competitive Annualised Hours
£31,824 (42.50 Hours) | £29,952 (40.00 Hours)
Early Years Room Leader (Level 2+)

£31,824 (42.50 Hours) | £29,952 (40.00 Hours)
Early Years Room Leader (Level 2+)
Full Time | 3-5 Years | All Year Round | Permanent | 4 or 5 Day Week | Competitive Annualised Hours
£31,824 (42.50 Hours) | £29,952 (40.00 Hours)
Nope, there is no typo there, we are indeed on the lookout for three Early Years Room Leaders (one for each of our lovely rooms). Room Leader roles do sadly need one of those Qualification thingies (they are senior positions after all). Now, what are we looking for in one of you lovely lot? Well, it’s pretty standard really (well, for Early Years);
Adaptable - do you have the ability to transform a cardboard box from being a house to spaceship in about 5 minutes, using nothing but imagination and a roll of sticky tape?
Quick Thinking - have you mastered the mystic arts? Can you slow time while also teleporting to stop a toddler from licking the paint off of a brush that looks nothing like a lollipop?
Multi-Tasking - can you squelch through mud, wade through rivers, and feed a little one all whilst applying suncream and doing the washing up?
Professional - can you hold it together, remaining professional, while little hands are pulling at you, and tiny voices [that are not in your head], are calling your name… all while it’s forty-degrees?
A Field Medic - are you able to save the little people from scrapes, bangs, and be a master of the cold-compress and blue roll?
Loving - do you have it in you to keep smiling, and keep loving the rogue that just bounced a train off your head during some rather vigorous play?
Confident - are you confident that you can hand over to parents whilst covered in various questionable stains, glitter in your hair and pompoms and snotty tissues in your pockets?
Creative - a stick, some leaves and PVA glue… let’s go! can you Blue Peter your way to making the most amazing and exciting little world ever?
Patient - do you have a big heart to care for little ones unconditionally, regardless of when they fight you for their sleep and blow snotty bubbles in your face?
Some would call you mad for considering a furtherance of a career in Early Years… it’s physically knackering, and emotionally draining - we wouldn’t change it for the world! Right, so, none of the above has phased you, you’re just saying ‘sounds like a regular day’, and now you’re wondering whether or not it’s for you, well, let’s take a look;
Qualifications - minimum Level 2 qualification in Early Years (essential) for Practitioner Roles
Experience - at least a year of working with children aged 0–5 years (kinda important)
Passion - a genuine want to teach, and support the tiny one’s learning + development
Communication - someone who is confident in working in a team + able to communicate well
Mindful - have you a solid understanding of safeguarding + child development (hope so)
So, you must hold a full and relevant Early Years qualification, be prepared to complete an Enhanced DBS check, and be able to provide two wonderful, glowing references (shouldn’t be a problem, right?). First + foremost, all of you lovelies must be prepared to have lots of fun in the workplace, and join a proper Little Big Family who enjoy the best job in the world! Also, no standing on ceremony, you must also be prepared to feel loved, special, and important to not only the children and their families, but to the crazy folks that call his play their baby, as well! If you think you’d like to come + visit us beforehand, please don't hesitate to get in touch and arrange an after hours tour, we virtually live here anyway!
In short, you’ve looked us over, and if you think this sounds like the perfect job for you, do get in touch!
Oh! - yup, this is deffo not one of those ‘Ai’ generated posts, we really do write like this, and we really are more than a little odd + different (just thought we’d clear the air).
