Family Worker – Early Intervention Youth and Community Team

Salary: £32,597 p.a. plus benefits

Fixed Term Contract until end of March 2027

Your next role

The Locality Early Intervention Teams generally aim to complete interventions with families within 12 weeks of the completion of the Early Help Assessment, identifying support and strengths within their family, friends and community networks to turn to when they face challenges, reducing the need for external professional involvement. As a Family Worker you may also have the opportunity to deliver evidenced based parenting programmes.

The intervention is whole family-led, meaning that families are at the heart of decision making about themselves and the voice of family members and children is crucial in developing outcome focussed plans for the children. At all times our aim is to support families to help themselves be the best that they can now and into the future.

There are three Locality Early Intervention Teams providing an early intervention specialism and informed response within local community areas to build strong long-lasting relationships with community services so that children and their families will receive a timely local response to need reducing the likelihood of escalation to statutory children’s services.

As a family worker you will be excited to learn that you will help our vulnerable families achieve outcomes which will change their life opportunities. You will achieve this through writing holistic family assessments and developing with the families, personalised plans. You will co-ordinate targeted support and will regularly review the plan with the families and partner agencies through the Team around the Family meetings.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will need demonstrable experience of, working with and providing support to children, young people and their families. You may have experience of running evidence-based parenting programmes. You will be creative and motivational, able to make positive relationships with families with a solution focused mindset. You will also need resilience, skills in risk management, the ability to manage your time well and the ability to prioritise your work.

You will need to be flexible with working hours that fit around the needs of the family, including some evening and weekend work.

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this position and the ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required and access to a car.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
