Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for children during Thursday, Friday, and term holidays. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation within a childcare or similar environment, ensuring that all meals meet safety and quality standards. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of children by providing wholesome food in a warm and welcoming setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals suitable for young children, adhering to dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
Assist with meal planning and ensure variety and balance in menus
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen area
Organise ingredients and supplies efficiently to support smooth meal service
Follow all health and safety regulations during food preparation and service
Assist with serving meals to children in a friendly and professional manner
Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces after each shift
Support the nursery team with additional food-related tasks as required

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or educational setting
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining quality standards
Strong organisational skills to manage ingredients and kitchen supplies effectively
Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with nursery staff
Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous but not essential
Friendly demeanour with a genuine interest in supporting children's wellbeing through nutritious meals

Pay: £12.71 per hour
