Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Roofer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofing systems on a variety of buildings. This role requires a strong understanding of roofing techniques, safety procedures, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Applicants should be physically fit, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Duties

Measure and cut roofing materials accurately using hand tools and power tools
Install new roofs or repair existing roofing structures in accordance with project specifications and safety standards
Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans to ensure proper installation
Utilise welding skills where necessary for metal roofing components or structural repairs
Operate heavy machinery and fabrication equipment for custom roofing solutions
Use masonry, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry skills as required for specialised roofing projects or structural modifications
Perform heavy lifting of materials such as shingles, tiles, metal sheets, and other roofing components
Ensure all work areas are kept clean and safe throughout the project duration
Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within budget

Experience

Proven experience in roofing installation and repair is essential
Knowledge of schematics, welding techniques, and fabrication processes is highly desirable
Familiarity with construction practices including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and heavy lifting will be advantageous
Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and specialised roofing equipment is required
Prior exposure to working at heights and adherence to safety protocols is necessary
A valid construction or roofing certification will be considered an asset
