Shilstone House

A lovingly restored Grade II listed Georgian manor house set on a 500-acre estate in the Devon countryside, with uninterrupted views of rolling hills, gardens, farmland, and woodland. Shilstone is a family estate where a passion for restoration and architecture combines with a love for food, drinks, and entertaining. Just outside the charming village of Modbury, it’s a place for people to come together, enjoy great company, and savour delicious food and drinks in a beautiful setting.

The Role:

We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic Waiting Staff to join our team at Shilstone House. Your main responsibility is to make every guest feel welcome and ensure they have an enjoyable dining experience. You will provide excellent service from greeting guests, taking orders, and serving food and drinks, through to handling payments and farewells.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and seat customers warmly
Take food and drink orders accurately
Serve meals and beverages promptly
Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally
Process payments and issue receipts
Maintain cleanliness of tables and service areas
Follow hygiene and safety regulations
Work effectively with kitchen and team members

Skills & Experience:

1–2 years’ experience in a busy restaurant (preferred but not essential)
Team player who communicates well with colleagues
Punctual, reliable, and trustworthy
Sense of urgency and ability to multitask
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Genuine passion for food and beverage

Additional Information:

Own transport is essential as Shilstone is not on any bus routes

Pay & Benefits:

7–25 hours per week – Wednesday - Sunday 10am–5pm
Up to £12.71 per hour (dependent on age and experience) with tips
50% off in the Café and Restaurant for you and a guest
Delicious staff meals on shift

Team socials every couple of months
Use of the pool on selected team-only dates
A share of the service charge is distributed across relevant teams
Regular training to develop skills and experience
