Full job description

Riverside Medical Practice is a friendly, modern and recently refurbished GP practice serving a growing patient population of over 11,500 patients. We are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and pride ourselves on providing a supportive and welcoming environment for both patients and staff.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, motivated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our established clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled nurse who enjoys working in primary care and is passionate about delivering excellent patient care. Full-time hours are preferred, although part-time applications will be considered for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing comprehensive nursing services to our patients and will work closely with GPs, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team. We are seeking an experienced Practice Nurse who is confident in independently managing chronic disease clinics and undertaking cervical cytology, both of which are essential requirements for this role.

The role will include the independent management of chronic disease clinics, including diabetes, asthma, COPD and hypertension, as well as cervical cytology (smear tests), childhood and adult immunisations, travel vaccinations, wound care and dressings, ECGs, NHS Health Checks, family planning and contraceptive services, health promotion and lifestyle advice. The successful candidate will also maintain accurate clinical records using SystmOne and participate in clinical audit and quality improvement activities where appropriate.

Applicants must hold current NMC registration and have previous experience working as a Practice Nurse within General Practice. Experience independently managing chronic disease clinics and undertaking cervical cytology is essential. Candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational abilities and good IT skills. The ability to work independently, whilst contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team, is essential.

Experience using SystmOne would be advantageous but is not essential.

We offer a competitive salary of £18.00–£25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, together with membership of the NHS Pension Scheme, on-site parking and a supportive working environment within our modern practice premises.
