About this job

This investment is allowing us to increase capacity, to reduce caseloads and increase opportunity for front line managers to provide robust support and oversight. Key role of the Deputy Team Manager is to support and develop the role of Family Group Decision making and Family Group Conferences across Children's Social Care To support the operational leadership and development of the Family Group Decision Making and Family Group Conference Service, including line management of staff, oversight of practice quality and contributing to service performance and improvement Deputise for the Team Manager in their absence. Special requirements for this post

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants including an Enhanced Children's Department of Barring Services check

About you

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to organise and convene meetings wherein family members and relevant friends will meet to discuss issues pertinent to a child at risk and arrive at solutions that will enhance the child's quality of life and wellbeing. Demonstrable experience (approximately 5 years) working within Family Group Conferencing (FGC) is desirable, but not essential You will be a skilled, motivated and caring practitioner who is able to engage children, young people and family members and use a variety of techniques to assist them in changing behaviour and support them to develop realistic and creative solutions. You will have the ability to play a key role in shaping service direction and priorities by leading on specific service improvement work and taking delegated responsibility for delivering and reporting on these, as the operational lead for the Service when the manager is not available. You will be have experience on quality assurance activities across the service, ensuring that all practice adheres to statutory requirements, Council policies, and best practice standards, and prepare for internal and external audits or inspections. You will have an understanding and experience of contextual safeguarding and will keep the child at the centre of your practise.
