Full job description

We are a brand new nursery opening in September 2026 and are looking for a nursery manager who wants an exciting challenge of setting up this new setting.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and child development. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while maintaining high standards of childcare and organisational efficiency. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for leading a team of staff, developing programmes, and fostering positive relationships with parents and the community.

Responsibilities

Manage the overall operation of the nursery, including staff supervision, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Lead and motivate a team of childcare professionals to deliver high-quality care and educational programmes.
Develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate activities that promote children's development across all areas.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and safeguarding regulations.
Build strong relationships with parents, providing regular updates on their children's progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
Organise staff training sessions to promote professional development and maintain high standards of childcare practice.
Oversee administrative tasks such as record keeping, budgeting, and maintaining accurate documentation for regulatory compliance.
Promote an inclusive environment that respects diversity and encourages positive behaviour among children and staff.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided by the nursery.

Requirements

Proven management experience within a nursery or early childhood education setting.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
Experience working directly with children and understanding their developmental needs.
Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are desirable.
Valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation duties if required.
Passion for early childhood education with a genuine interest in child welfare and development.
Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
