Full job description

Band 4 Medical Secretary 37.5 per week (permanent) working within the Surgical Care Collaborative at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust.

The service aims to provide a high quality, locally delivered, patient focussed services for those attending our Trust.

This role will be crucial to the efficient day to day delivery of the service, providing administrative and secretarial support to two Consultants and their supporting staff.

In this role you will often be the first point of contact for our patients therefore a professional, patient focused approach is key at all times. You will provide a high standard of administration support to the clinical team, liaising with other departments, patients, NHS Trusts and external agencies.

Main tasks would include compiling theatre lists, tracking the pathway of a cancer patient, providing up-to-date information on a patient's RTT pathway, and updating systems to reflect.

You should be educated to GCSE (minimum C Grade) standard, be trained to RSA level 3 standard and/or an NVQ level 3 in Administration and/or have the equivalent experience, preferably having a medical administration background.

We are looking for someone with a pleasant, adaptable disposition who can remain calm under pressure and deal with a busy workload efficiently and effectively

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as a positive approach to working in a team.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £21.50 + Administration cost of £6.50 = £28.00. Deducted from salary over following 4 months or one off payment.

Enhanced Check: £49.50 + administration cost of £6.50 = £56.00. Deducted from salary over following 4 months or one off payment.
