Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to develop their skills within a professional hospitality environment. The position is paid and suitable for those with a keen interest in food production and kitchen management. Applicants must be able to work weekends shifts

Duties

Assist in the preparation and presentation of a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in food production, ensuring quality and consistency across all menu items
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations at all times
Help with food plating, garnishing, and portion control to ensure visual appeal and customer satisfaction
Contribute to the supervision of junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed
Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of shortages or expiry dates
Support the team during busy service periods, ensuring smooth kitchen operations and timely delivery of orders

Skills

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment or hospitality setting
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Competence in food preparation, cooking, and basic culinary techniques
Leadership qualities with previous supervising experience or team management skills
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and front-of-house staff
Passion for culinary arts with a keen eye for detail and presentation
Ability to adapt quickly to new recipes, techniques, and operational procedures
