Full job description

Make a Difference Every Day

WCB is looking for experienced Support Workers to join our dedicated team, supporting children and young people in crisis.

This is a highly rewarding role where you will support young people facing trauma, emotional distress, and behavioural challenges — helping them feel safe, supported, and empowered to move forward.

Key Responsibilities

Provide hands-on support to children and young people in crisis
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of those in your care
Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours
Build positive, trusting relationships
Support daily routines, education, and life skills
Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
Assist with daily tasks including cooking and cleaning

Requirements

Minimum 12 months’ experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviours
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Calm, resilient, and able to work under pressure
Good communication and teamwork skills
Flexible availability (including sleep-ins and waking nights)
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to provide 5 years’ employment references
Willing to complete pre-employment training

Desirable:

Full UK driving licence
