Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating large goods vehicles, primarily flatbed lorries, to deliver goods efficiently and on time. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a passion for commercial driving and delivering exceptional service. The position requires a commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism in all aspects of the job.

Duties

Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including flatbed lorries, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies
Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety standards are maintained
Load and secure goods onto the vehicle, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols
Deliver goods to various locations in a timely manner, maintaining accurate delivery documentation
Assist with the unloading of goods at delivery points when required
Maintain accurate records of mileage, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance needs
Follow all health and safety guidelines during driving and loading/unloading processes
Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during routes

Requirements

Valid HGV Class 1 licence
Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed deliveries or similar operations
Delivery driver experience is highly desirable
Knowledge of road regulations and safety standards relevant to large goods vehicle operation
Ability to handle physical tasks such as securing loads and lifting heavy items when necessary
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and route planning
Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including early mornings or late evenings if needed
Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards clients and colleagues

Pay: From £48,360.00 per year
