This project and job role is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. Funding runs from April 2026 to April 2029.

Purpose of Job:

To work effectively as part of Hope Connects team to achieve the project impacts in families caring for babies and young children.

These impacts are:

Reduced social isolation for parents and children: Improved parenting skills Improved mental health and well being improved access to other services and more equal access to wider opportunities

Key Areas:

Develop positive relationships with children and their parents/carers offering appropriate support where needed.
Develop positive relationships with other staff, volunteers and partner agencies.
To help take responsibility for planning activities, setting up, tidying and cleaning of resources.

Details of Duties:

To contribute to the development of the project through meeting with project co-ordinator.
To contribute to creating a comfortable, safe, welcoming, stimulating and nurturing environment which takes into consideration the nature of the specific group e.g. baby, toddler, time for me.
To contribute to setting up and tidying up the provision before and after each session leaving the area clean and tidy.
To spend time with adults during group sessions or via individual meet ups and messenger, maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality whilst encouraging them, linking them up with other group users and listening to any concerns they may have, offering appropriate support and signposting/referring to relevant agencies.
Interacting with babies and children, reinforcing positive behavior, engaging in their play and encouraging their development.
Liaising with project co-ordinator and keeping up to date with relevant record keeping.
Contributing to the social media platforms and promoting the project.
To report any safeguarding incident or concerns immediately in line with Hope House Church’s Safeguarding Policy and procedures ensuring your line manager is informed promptly.
Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety, hygiene and cleanliness adhering to all relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements including GPD, fire, food hygiene, emergency and security procedures.

Responsibilities

Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all.
Contribute to overall ethos/work/aims of the project.
Appreciate and support the role of other staff, volunteers, outside agencies and professionals.
Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
Any other duties as directed by the project coordinator and line manager commensurate with the role.

Hours

Hours: 16 Hours per week – Fixed Hours

– Thursday 9am to 3pm

- Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

- plus 2 hours admin and additional project activities.

Job Criteria Essential - Experience with working with children birth to five. Experience of working within a team. Ability to create a stimulating and welcoming environment. Record keeping and being able to keep appropriate confidentiality.

Ideal – relevant qualifications, understanding/knowledge of outside agencies to signpost/refer to, the relevant impact for project activities, safeguarding, family support, understanding/knowledge of groups/activities for families taking place in the borough.
