Position Summary and Overview
To assist and promote in the provision of a safe, living environment for our young people. You will be required to work within Equal Opportunities and Risk Assessed frameworks. You will aid young people to engage and achieve their potential in all areas of their needs.

Major Responsibilities
- Monitor the completion and standard of routines both daily, monthly and annually, and ensure all corresponding paperwork within each service is completed to a high standard and in line with our company procedures.
- Promote independent living skills for our young people.
- Promote a safe, supportive environment for our young people.
- Encourage the development of individual interests and attitudes.
- To promote safeguarding and the protection of each young person, and to report any safeguarding or child protection concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy.
- To establish and maintain a positive and trusting relationship with young people and promote a sense of security.
- Provide firm, consistent and fair boundaries in respect of their behavior and employ appropriate and agreed interventions.
- To maintain appropriate professional boundaries and model positive behaviour at all times.
- Ensure appropriate medical help is summoned in cases of illness and accidents.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle for our young people.
- Assist our young people in the development of sustaining positive social networks.
- Organise and participate in social activities.
- Assist in the provision and preparation of balanced meals.
- Carry out and record regular keyworking sessions with our young people.
- To assist and support our young people in the transition of leaving our service.
- Encourage young people to develop their full educational and vocational attainment.
- Actively participate in the development of young people’s support plans and risk assessments, and review accordingly.
- To support in the undertake of a young person’s admission or discharge to New Key Support.
- To attend and contribute to team meetings regarding the young person.
- To actively participate in your supervisions and appraisals with senior staff and contribute to your own self development.
- Undertake sleep-in duties when required.
- Complete and show willingness to undertake training as part of your overall professional development.
- Basic property checks and adhere to Health & Safety Act.
- To follow and adhere to GDPR standards in both internal and external documentation.
- Maintain adequate standards through property checks in each property and be fit for external inspections.
- Oversee and monitor the petty cash of each property and ensure proper petty cash procedures are followed.
Competencies (preferred but not essential)
- A level 3 qualification is desirable but working towards or a willingness to complete this is also acceptable.
- Previous experience working with young people.
- High levels of initiative, self-motivation and energy.
- Highly organised with an ability to work effectively to deadlines.
- A high attention to detail with an ability to follow through on commitments.
- A high level of literacy skills is required
- An ability to interface excellently with support staff and customers (external and internal).
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative.
- Confidentiality and a proven ability to work with tact and diplomacy.
- Responsiveness and resilience.
Travel
- Travel will be required as part of this role, and you may be asked to travel with young people when required.
- Each shift will involve travelling between multiple services to provide outreach support to young people living in their own homes.
Location and Working Patterns
- This role shall be based within the North East of England within the properties owed by New Key Support.
- This role will require you to work within a team, and the various shift patterns will include weekends and sleep-in shifts. This will be arranged in advance by rota, although short notice holiday / sickness cover may also be available.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references, covering at least the last five years of employment. One referee must be your current or most recent employer.
- A full employment and education history is required, with any gaps rigorously explained and verified.
- This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring service (DBS).
- The successful candidate will need to provide original documents to prove identity, right to work, and professional qualifications.
Reporting to
- This role will report to the Senior Support Worker and Registered Manager.
