Business Development Consultant

Up to £40,000 basic salary, plus uncapped commission

Looking for a B2B sales role where your effort has a direct impact on what you earn?

Tritility is looking for ambitious Business Development Executives to join our growing outbound sales team in Jarrow. Internally, we call this role Business Development Consultant because it is about understanding a customer’s business, having a proper commercial conversation and finding the right solution.

You will speak with business owners and senior decision makers across the UK, generate new business opportunities and help organisations reduce their costs through energy, water, solar and Net Zero solutions.

Since launching in 2019, we have grown to more than 160 people, and we are continuing to expand. That growth creates genuine opportunities for people who want to earn well, develop their B2B sales skills and build a long-term career.

We are open to experienced Business Development Executives, Energy Sales Consultants and B2B telesales professionals, as well as strong salespeople who are ready to take the next step in their career.

Salary and commission

· Basic salary up to £40,000

The role

As a Business Development Executive, you will create new business opportunities through telephone-based outbound sales activity, speak with senior decision-makers and build strong commercial relationships with customers across the UK.

You will take ownership of your sales pipeline, from initial contact through to developing and progressing qualified opportunities. This includes lead generation, understanding a customer’s needs, presenting the right solution and maintaining consistent follow-up.

· Generating new business leads through telephone-based outbound sales activity

· Speaking with business owners, Managing Directors, CEOs and Finance Directors

· Engaging with procurement professionals and other commercial decision makers

· Understanding each customer’s business needs, energy requirements and cost pressures

· Identifying new business opportunities across energy, water, solar and Net Zero solutions

· Presenting clear, commercially relevant solutions to prospective customers

· Building and maintaining strong customer relationships

· Managing your own sales pipeline and progressing qualified opportunities

· Maintaining consistent follow up with prospective customers

· Achieving and exceeding individual sales targets

· Maintaining accurate customer records, sales activity and pipeline information using our CRM system

· Working closely with colleagues across our wider sales team

Job requirements

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

· Confident speaking with business owners and senior decision-makers

· Comfortable working in a telephone-based outbound B2B sales environment

· Ambitious and motivated by earning well

· Commercial, curious and comfortable asking good questions

· Resilient, positive and able to keep going when things do not land first time

· Professional, personable and able to build trust quickly

· Organised and comfortable managing a busy sales pipeline

· Competitive, results-focused and accountable for their own performance

· Keen to learn, improve and build a long-term career in sales

Experience

Previous experience in B2B sales, outbound sales, telesales, lead generation, business development, new business sales or account management would be beneficial.

You may currently be working as a Business Development Executive, Sales Executive, Business Development Consultant, Sales Consultant, Account Executive, Account Manager, Sales Development Representative, SDR, Telesales Executive, Recruitment Consultant, Energy Consultant or Energy Sales Consultant.

Experience within energy sales, utilities, energy consultancy, SaaS, technology, telecoms, IT services, professional services or commercial property would be useful, although it is not essential.
