Reignite a love of learning and rebuild confidence

The RESTART (Reintegration into Education and School Through Achieving Resilience Together) provision is part of Education, Schools and Inclusion, supporting children and young people who face barriers to engaging in education. Based at the Restart Hub in Dunston and across community settings, the team works collaboratively with families, schools, and partners to re-engage learners through tailored education, pastoral support, and a strong focus on wellbeing. The service is built on relationships, resilience and inclusive practice, helping young people rebuild confidence and successfully return to education.

Supporting young people back into education, one lesson at a time.

What you will get to do

Plan and deliver targeted, engaging lessons for children and young people
Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of learners who may feel anxious, disengaged or lack confidence
Identify gaps in learning and implement interventions to support rapid progress
Deliver holistic and wellbeing-focused activities to build confidence and self-esteem
Work flexibly as part of a team across different areas of the service
Deliver support across a range of settings, including the Restart Hub, schools, community venues and homes
Write high-quality reports on progress and recommend strategies for reintegration or ongoing placement
Contribute to reintegration planning and support successful returns to school
Lead on an agreed enrichment area within the provision (e.g. creative curriculum or outdoor learning)
Build positive relationships with learners, families, schools and multi-agency partners
Remain calm and professional when supporting young people in crisis
Act as a key worker for a group of pupils, providing regular feedback on attendance and engagement
Undertake duties appropriate to the grade of the role

Inspire change, unlock potential, and transform futures

What you will bring

Strong knowledge of Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum (Maths, English or Science), teaching approaches, assessment strategies, SEND, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice
Experience working in educational settings with children and young people, including those with social, emotional and mental health needs
Ability to engage and motivate learners who face barriers to education using relational approaches
Experience delivering wellbeing, therapeutic or holistic activities to support confidence and self-esteem
Experience supporting neurodivergent learners and adapting approaches to meet individual needs
Relevant teaching/training qualification (Level 4 or above or equivalent experience) and commitment to ongoing professional development
Ability to travel between locations with appropriate driving arrangements

The successful candidate will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and will be required to start commence employment in September 2026
