About Us: Mentoring Moments, Lasting Impacts.
At Marsh McNeil Mentoring, we believe in the untapped potential of every young mind. Whether a young person is facing school exclusion, struggling with their mental health, or navigating complex SEND/SEMH needs, our bespoke, child-focused approach provides a safe space for them to build confidence, resilience, and valuable life skills.
We pride ourselves on doing things differently to re-engage reluctant learners. From immersive VR Learning (via ClassVR) to therapeutic interventions with our resident therapy dog, Nelly, we provide innovative support that truly changes lives.
The Role
We are looking for dynamic, adaptable, and energetic Youth Mentors to join our growing team. In this role, no two days are the same. You will act as a relatable role model and a trusted guide, working 1-to-1 with vulnerable or hard-to-reach young people to help them make positive choices, navigate personal challenges, and unlock their full potential.
If you are a proactive person who loves to learn and thrives in a fast-paced, highly rewarding environment, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1-to-1 & 2-to-1 Support: Build strong, trust-based relationships with young people using trauma-informed care and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS).
- Deliver Innovative Engagement: Guide young people through bespoke sessions that may include community integration, life skills development, and utilizing our cutting-edge educational tools.
- Support Accredited Learning: Help students stay on track by assisting with bite-sized learning pathways (such as the AQA Unit Award Scheme).
- Be a Safe Space: Provide consistent boundaries and a reliable, non-judgmental point of contact for youth facing social, emotional, or behavioural hurdles.
- Collaborate & Report: Maintain detailed session handovers and report safeguarding concerns promptly to support families, schools, and local authorities.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
- A full, clean UK driving license is essential, as you will be transporting mentees and working across community settings.
- Must hold a current Enhanced DBS check, or be entirely willing to undergo rigorous background screening.
- You must be highly adaptable to changing environments, dynamic in how you engage reluctant youth, and possess a strong willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in youth work, alternative provision, SEND/SEMH care, teaching, or sports coaching is highly valued, but your attitude, empathy, and resilience are what matter most.
Why Join MM Mentoring? (Benefits & Perks)
- Industry-Leading Training: We deeply invest in your growth. All mentors complete mandatory, comprehensive training in First Aid, Safeguarding, Positive Behavioural Support (PBS), and Trauma-Informed Care.
- Professional Support: You will receive regular supervision from a qualified therapist to support your own mental well-being and professional development.
- Innovative Environment: Work with cutting-edge tools (like Virtual Reality) and a supportive, passionate team.
