Experienced Support Worker – Autism, Learning Disabilities & Mental Health

Barbara Rose Care Home – Ruddington, Nottingham

£13.50 per hour | Full-time | 12-hour shifts

Looking for a care role where you can genuinely make a difference?

Barbara Rose Care Home is a small specialist residential service in Ruddington, Nottingham, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and behaviours that may challenge.

Being a small service means we are able to provide genuinely person-centred support and our staff have the opportunity to get to know the people they support properly.

We are looking for an experienced, reliable and caring Support Worker who wants to become a valued member of a consistent and supportive team.

We are particularly interested in people who take pride in their work, understand the importance of professional boundaries and can remain calm, compassionate and confident when situations become challenging.

The Role

You will work as part of a supportive team providing high-quality, person-centred care while promoting independence, dignity, choice and respect.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing individualised, person-centred support
Promoting independence and daily living skills
Supporting people to access the community and participate in meaningful activities
Supporting with personal care where required
Administering medication safely following training and competency assessment
Following individual care plans and risk assessments
Following Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies
Recognising changes in presentation, behaviour or wellbeing and reporting concerns appropriately
Completing clear, accurate and timely daily records and reports
Working professionally and positively with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals
Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
Safeguarding the people we support at all times
Supporting a safe, respectful and positive environment within the home

About You

We are looking for someone who is reliable, patient, calm and genuinely passionate about providing good-quality support.

You will need:

A minimum of 12 months’ experience working within a UK care or support setting
Experience supporting adults with autism, learning disabilities, mental health needs and/or behaviours that may challenge
NVQ Level 2 or above in Health & Social Care
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good standards of record keeping
An understanding of person-centred care
An understanding of safeguarding
The ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations
A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team
Reliability and a good work ethic
Flexibility to work a rota which may include days, nights, weekends and bank holidays

Experience or knowledge of the following would be advantageous:

Medication administration
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Mental Capacity Act (MCA)
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Supporting individuals who may display behaviours that challenge
