Job Summary

We are seeking a committed, experienced, and compassionate House Supervisor to join our supported accommodation service for young people aged 16 to 18+.

As a House Supervisor, you will take a lead role in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of support, compliance, and safeguarding.

You will provide leadership to the staff team, oversee logs and recording, and ensure that young people receive consistent, high-quality support that promotes independence and positive outcomes.

This role includes management responsibilities, including staff supervision, audits, quality assurance, and participation in the on-call rota.

You will work closely with management to ensure the service is safe, effective, and well-led.

Our homes are staffed up to 24 hours per day, and this role includes shift work, evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and on-call duties.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight

Lead the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
Provide clear direction and guidance to Support Workers on shift
Promote a positive, accountable, and young person-centred team culture
Act as a role model in practice, professionalism, and conduct

Safeguarding & Practice

Ensure safeguarding procedures are consistently followed and concerns are escalated appropriately
Oversee the implementation and quality of placement plans, risk assessments, and support strategies
Support staff in managing behaviours of concern using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches
Ensure all practice is aligned with organisational policies and regulatory standards

Supervision & Staff Development

Conduct regular supervisions with staff, ensuring performance, wellbeing, and development are effectively supported
Identify training needs and contribute to workforce development
Provide ongoing feedback, guidance, and support to improve practice and recording

Audits & Quality Assurance

Complete regular audits of support records, incidents, risk assessments, and daily logs
Ensure records are accurate, up-to-date, and reflective of the support provided
Identify areas for improvement and implement actions to drive quality and compliance
Support management with inspection readiness and continuous improvement

Young People Support

Provide high-quality, individualised support to young people in line with their placement plans
Support young people in developing independence, life skills, and emotional resilience
Promote engagement in education, training, and employment
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
Support preparation for independent living and transitions

Communication & Multi-Agency Working

Liaise effectively with social workers, external professionals, and families (where appropriate)
Ensure clear and professional communication across the team
Contribute to meetings, reviews, and planning processes

On-Call & Operational Duties

Participate in the on-call rota, providing guidance and decision-making support out of hours
Respond to incidents and support staff in managing complex situations
Ensure safe staffing levels and support rota coordination where required

Skills & Experience

Minimum age: 21 years old (regulatory requirement)
Significant experience working with children or young people (essential)
Experience in a senior or leadership role (desirable)
Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Experience working with challenging behaviours (essential)
Experience with exploitation (CSE/ CCE) (highly desirable)
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to lead shifts confidently and make sound decisions under pressure
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Competent IT skills for recording and reporting
Full UK driving licence (desirable)
Empathy, resilience, and a proactive approach

Qualifications & Training

QCF/NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health & Social Care (Children) or relevant qualification (or willingness to complete)
Mandatory training provided, including:
Safeguarding
Child Sexual & Criminal Exploitation
Professional Boundaries
Behaviour Support / Intervention Training

Working Conditions

Full-time position (36 hours per week)- Monday – Friday, 9.00am -3.00pm shift and one of those days a double shift 9am-9pm.
Shift work including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Sleep-ins required
Participation in on-call rota
Flexibility to work across different homes if required
Additional hours may be required to meet service needs
Enhanced DBS required prior to employment

Our Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process consists of two stages to ensure we select the right people for our team.

Stage 1: A competency-based interview conducted via Microsoft Teams, where you will be asked a range of questions relating to your experience, values and approach to supporting children and young people.

Stage 2: Candidates who are successful at Stage 1 will be invited to complete a practical assessment, either at our Head Office or via Microsoft Teams where appropriate. This stage is designed to assess your practical skills, professional judgement, written communication, recording standards and ability to respond effectively to realistic workplace situations.
