The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the company vehicle fleet across the UK business. The role will manage all fleet-related activities, ensuring the fleet operates safely, efficiently, compliantly, and cost-effectively while supporting operational delivery across nationally dispersed drivers.
The role requires strong influencing skills and the ability to achieve compliance and behavioural change through engagement rather than direct authority. This is a fleet transformation and cost-control leadership role requiring strategic thinking, stakeholder influence and continuous improvement.
The Fleet Manager is responsible and accountable for the provision of a value for money Fleet. This requires extensive and broad stakeholder management and collaboration. The Fleet Manager will hold the responsible stakeholder to account and, where appropriate, escalate accordingly.
The Fleet Manager will manage the internal Fleet Administration function and act as the primary relationship lead with the company's outsourced Fleet Management Solutions Provider, Novuna. Success in the role will depend upon developing a clear understanding of the respective responsibilities of BELFOR, its drivers, the fleet team, Novuna and its delivery partners. The Fleet Manager will ensure all parties are held accountable for agreed outcomes and service standards.
The role will work closely with internal stakeholders including Operations, Finance, HR, Procurement, and Health & Safety.
This is a Head Office based role with occasional travel to operational locations and supplier meetings.
A key objective of the role is the ability to transform and develop the existing fleet operation by influencing positive behavioural change through cohesive training, engagement, and insight-led management. Combined with efficient fleet management and effective procurement practices, the role will help deliver a safe, compliant, and cost-efficient fleet for BELFOR UK.
The role will also work closely with the Finance Business Partner to ensure robust financial control, performance analysis, commercial challenge, and continuous improvement across all fleet-related expenditure and operational activity.
Duties
· Fleet Management & Strategy
· Manage the day-to-day operation of the company fleet (where BELFOR responsible), including cars and LCVs.
· Develop and implement fleet policies, procedures, and best practices.
· Ensure fleet availability aligns with operational requirements across the business.
· Monitor vehicle utilisation and identify opportunities to optimise fleet efficiency and reduce costs.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the fleet function to improve operational performance, compliance, driver behaviour, and cost control.
· Supplier & Outsourced Provider Management
· Act as the primary relationship manager for Novuna and other fleet-related suppliers.
· Hold regular performance reviews with suppliers against agreed KPIs and service levels.
· Manage vehicle ordering, delivery, disposal, maintenance, accident management, fuel management, and driver support processes delivered through outsourced partners.
· With Procurement support, ensure supporting facilities exist and operate cost efficiently – toll and congestion charges, parking facilities
· Ensure accurate and timely reporting from fleet service providers. Hold providers to account using KPI.
· Compliance & Risk Management
· Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company fleet obligations.
· Ensure appropriate driver licence checks, vehicle inspections, MOTs are carried out and ensure compliance with service schedules. The Fleet Manager is responsible and accountable. In the event of non-performance by others the Fleet Manager must escalate appropriately.
· Support Health & Safety initiatives relating to occupational road risk and driver safety.
· Monitor accident and incident trends and implement corrective actions where required.
· Promote a culture of safe and responsible driving across the business through training, communication, and performance monitoring.
· Financial Management
· Manage fleet budgets and monitor overall fleet expenditure at UK and regional levels.
· Analyse fleet costs including leasing, maintenance, fuel, damage, and utilisation trends.
· Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies. The Finance Business Partner will support.
· Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes relating to fleet operations.
· Work closely with Procurement, Novuna and suppliers to ensure best value and commercially effective fleet solutions.
· Work with the Finance Business Partner to provide accurate reporting, commercial insight, financial challenge, and performance analysis across the fleet operation which informs decisions.
· Team Leadership
· Provide leadership, support, and development to the Fleet Administration Resource (“Admin”). This requires frequent dialogue with Admin, support and challenge during each working day.
· Ensure high standards of service delivery and administrative accuracy.
· Establish clear objectives and performance expectations within the fleet function.
· Reporting & Stakeholder Management
· Produce regular management information and fleet performance reporting.
· Provide insight and recommendations to senior management regarding fleet performance, risk, and cost control.
· Build strong working relationships with operational teams and key internal stakeholders.
