Salary: £35, 460 – £38, 340 per annum (Inclusive of sleep-in payments)

About the Role

As a Senior Residential Children’s Support Worker, you will play a key role in the daily life of the home. You will continue to work directly with children and young people, while also supporting staff, leading shifts, and helping ensure the standard of care remains consistent and safe.

This role is about being a steady presence—someone others look to for guidance during challenging moments and reassurance when things feel uncertain. You will help shape the tone of each shift, ensuring practice reflects the values of the home as well as its policies.

The Senior role is an important step in our leadership structure, supporting staff development, placement stability, and positive experiences for children.

Key Responsibilities

Build trusting, boundaried relationships with children and young people
Lead shifts and provide guidance to support staff
Model calm, trauma‑informed responses to challenging behaviour
Support care planning, risk management, and daily routines
Act as a safeguarding lead on shift, responding to concerns appropriately
Support accurate recording, handovers, and reflective practice
Mentor and support newer staff members
Maintain clear professional boundaries and uphold standards of practice
Work collaboratively with Managers to ensure consistency and quality

About You

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys supporting others as much as supporting children.

You are likely to:

Have experience working in residential children’s care
Feel confident taking the lead on shift when needed
Be calm under pressure and able to think before reacting
Understand the impact of trauma on behaviour and relationships
Be reflective, open to feedback, and willing to support others to grow
Take safeguarding and professional standards seriously

You recognise that good senior practice often shows itself in the small, consistent decisions made every day.

This Role May Not Be Suitable If You:

Prefer to avoid leadership responsibility
Feel uncomfortable supporting or guiding peers
Struggle to maintain boundaries during emotionally charged situations
Are seeking a role without accountability or reflective expectations

Qualifications & Requirements

NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent)
Experience working directly with children and young people in care
Willingness to work a rota, including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑ins
