Company Overview

Barkwell Plumbing and Heating stands as one of the largest plumbing companies in the Southwest, catering to major house developers across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset. With 45 years of award-winning, fully accredited service, we handle the largest projects while remaining true to our origins as a family business. For over 25 years, we have specialised in plumbing and heating services for extensive projects involving hundreds of homes for major commercial clients, property developers, housing associations, and local authorities.

Role Description/Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a proactive Buyer to enhance our procurement processes. In this role, you will:

- Provide high-quality support to operations and respond to site communications.

- Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers.

- Follow up on orders that have not arrived on time or to the given specifications, escalating issues to the Head of Procurement when necessary.

- Undertake administrative duties to support the team.

- Process purchase orders.

Experience/Skills Required

- Strong IT skills

- Excellent administrative skills

- Ability to work to tight deadlines

- Able to work under pressure

- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

- Good at prioritising tasks to maximise efficiency and productivity

- Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written

- Proactive in decision-making with keen troubleshooting skills

Experience in buying is preferred but not essential.

Job Type: Full time, Permanent.

Experience: Buying: 2 years (preferred)
