Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities and equipment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in maintenance, electrical, and mechanical systems, who are eager to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for supporting both routine maintenance tasks and specialised repairs, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations.

Responsibilities

Assist with the maintenance, repair, and servicing of machinery and equipment across the facility.
Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to diagnose issues accurately.
Perform welding tasks as required, ensuring safety standards are maintained at all times.
Support electrical maintenance activities, including troubleshooting electrical faults and replacing components.
Conduct mechanical repairs, including replacing parts and maintaining moving components.
Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to support automation systems.
Assist with preventative maintenance programmes to minimise downtime.
Supervise junior team members or apprentices during specific tasks, providing guidance as needed.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and report on equipment status.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

Requirements

Proven experience in maintenance roles with knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical components, and general repair techniques.
Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC programming is essential.
Welding skills are highly desirable.
Strong electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge is preferred.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience is advantageous.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Good command of English, both written and spoken, for clear communication within the team.
Customer service skills are beneficial when liaising with other departments or external contractors.
