Baker — Artisan Bakery | Greater Manchester

The Basics

- Salary: £13.50–£15.00 per hour depending on experience

- Hours: 30 hours per week

- Contract: Permanent

The Company

We are a well-established artisan bakery in Greater Manchester. Under new ownership, we are expanding our range, adding new channels, and investing in the team and product. We are hiring two permanent bakers to join us as we grow.

The Role & Shift Pattern

You will be baking from scratch every shift. 30 hours per week, with regular overtime available to cover leave. Early starts are part of the role — our day begins at 04:00, and that's non-negotiable — and the pattern includes Saturdays. There's flexibility in how the hours are arranged: they can be compressed into four longer days or spread across the week. We'll agree the exact pattern with you at interview.

Part of the week covers a different side of the operation — new product development, delivery channel prep, and channel support — and we want bakers who are comfortable owning that.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

- Solid production bakery experience — you can work fast and clean under pressure

- Confident with enriched doughs, pies, pastry, and high-volume savoury work

- Good piping skills

- Reliable — the 04:00 start is non-negotiable

- Team player

Desirable:

- Viennoiserie experience or CDP-level background (croissants, Danish, laminated doughs)

- Full UK driving licence (occasional inter-site runs)
