Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will support our Singing, Dance, and Drama Teachers in delivering engaging, high-quality performing arts training for students aged 4–18, with a particular focus on our Junior Group (ages 6–8).

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, thrives in a creative environment, and is committed to helping students build confidence, creativity, and performance skills. The successful candidate will play an active role in classes, rehearsals, performances, and events, while helping to create a positive and supportive learning environment. There may also be opportunities to provide occasional class cover when required.

Key Responsibilities

Assist Singing, Dance, and Drama Teachers during classes, rehearsals, workshops, and performances.
Provide support for our Junior Group (ages 6–8), ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and confident throughout lessons.
Support students across all age groups and disciplines as required.
Help prepare lesson resources, music, props, costumes, and equipment.
Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, structured, and enjoyable learning environment.
Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, creativity, and self-confidence among students.
Support the delivery of performances, showcases, examinations, and special events throughout the year.
Work collaboratively with the teaching team on cross-disciplinary projects and productions.
Monitor student wellbeing and communicate any concerns to lead teachers and management.
Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and child protection procedures are followed at all times.
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and a passion for the performing arts.
Provide occasional cover for Singing, Dance, or Drama classes when required, following lesson plans and maintaining continuity of learning and student engagement.

Essential Qualities

A warm, patient, energetic, and encouraging approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Confidence supporting activities across singing, dance, and drama disciplines.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of the school and its students.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience in a performing arts, educational, childcare, or youth-work setting.
Training or experience in one or more performing arts disciplines, including singing, dance, or drama.
Experience assisting with performances, productions, or events.
First Aid and/or safeguarding training (or a willingness to undertake training).

Working Hours

Term-time Saturdays (typically between 8:45am–3:30pm). Additional hours for show rehearsals, events, and training may be required.
