Full job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

You will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to Consultant Doctors and Nursing staff within Urgent and Emergency Care at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The role focuses on supporting efficient patient care through highquality administrative, clerical, and communication duties.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Part-time, permanent
Location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Work pattern: MondayFriday, 6 hours per day, 10:3016:30

Key responsibilities:

Providing highquality secretarial support to medical and nursing staff
Handling telephone and facetoface enquiries from staff, patients, relatives, carers, and the Procurator Fiscal’s Office
Updating medical rotas
Audiotyping clinic and discharge letters
Minute taking for meetings
Ensuring administrative processes support efficient patient care

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Knowledge of medical terminology is necessary
Experience with Microsoft Office packages
Understanding of NHS health & safety requirements and policies
Ability to work under pressure
Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
Knowledge of PMS TrakCare
