Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join our growing team in Brighton
What you'll be doing
- Assist the Lead Technician with mobilization of the hard facilities management
services to the University of Sussex while the new West Slope student accommodation is being built.
- Ensure that the West Slope estate is statutory compliant and to maintain documents that are necessary to demonstrate statutory compliance.
- Undertake and deliver planned and reactive maintenance on the West Slope student residences development.
- Supervise and manage the subcontractors, when requested, during FM service
delivery.
- Hold an Appointed Persons (AP) role within an Electrical, Mechanical or both
discipline.
- Place Health and Safety at the forefront and follow the zero harm principles set out by Balfour Beatty
- Client focused and foster a “can-do” attitude
- Liaise with the Management team and establish good working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Assist management and co-ordination of the facilities management subcontractors.
- Inspect and witness the construction site as it develops and become familiar with the infrastructure which in turn will assist during the operational delivery period.
- Review, implement and complete relevant Health, Safety, & Wellbeing documentation and processes.
- Deliver SSoW contractor inductions as required.
Who we're looking for
This is an M&E role so a bias to mechanical or electrical engineering will be required.
- One of the following (Essential):
o BS 7671:2018 - 18th Edition or
o Plumbing and Domestic Heating qualification (C&G 6189 or equivalent)
- Dual AP Responsibilities or ability to achieve this.
- Good knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation.
- Possesses full UK driving license.
- Ability to manage diverse works and associated supply chain activities.
Desirable skills & experience
- NVQ Level 3 plus City and Guilds 2360 Part 1 and 2 (or equivalent)
- Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (1999) training
- City and Guilds 2394 & 2395 Inspection & Testing or City and Guilds 2391 Inspection &Testing
- Experience in student accommodation
