Field Sales Manager

Salary: £32,940 per annum

Location: Stanley, DH9 9XW

About the Role

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a hands on Sales Manager to lead our Durham operation.

This is not a desk-based management role. You will spend the majority of your time on the road supporting drivers, developing routes, growing sales and ensuring high standards are maintained across the depot.

You will be responsible for driving sales performance across a fleet of food trucks serving workplaces throughout the North East. You will work closely with the Depot Manager and Supervisors to improve performance, develop the team and identify opportunities for growth.

This role would suit a strong people manager who enjoys being operationally involved, solving problems, coaching staff and delivering results.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Performance

Drive sales growth across the depot's fleet of food trucks
Monitor daily route performance and take action where required
Increase average spend per customer and customer numbers
Drive promotional activity and maximise offer uptake
Identify underperforming routes and implement improvement plans
Support and coach drivers to improve sales performance
Lead by example with high standards, energy and accountability

Route Development

Develop and grow existing routes and customer bases
Identify and secure new business opportunities
Support new route launches and route expansion
Assist with route planning and optimisation
Ensure route coverage is maintained during holidays and absence
Build strong relationships with customers and site contacts

Team Leadership

Lead, motivate and develop the sales team
Set clear expectations and performance standards
Conduct coaching, training and performance discussions
Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
Build a positive, high-performance culture
Address poor performance promptly and professionally

Operational Standards

Ensure vehicles are clean, compliant and well-presented
Monitor merchandising and product presentation standards
Ensure company policies and procedures are followed
Maintain excellent customer service standards across the depot

Communication & Reporting

Monitor and report on sales performance
Analyse performance trends and identify opportunities
Escalate issues quickly and provide solutions
Work closely with the depot management team
Provide regular updates on performance, opportunities and challenges

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Proven experience managing people
Previous management experience within a sales, retail, hospitality, catering or service-led environment
A strong track record of delivering sales growth and improving performance
The ability to motivate, coach and hold people accountable
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Commercial awareness and the ability to make decisions independently
A hands-on approach and willingness to lead from the front
A full UK driving licence

The successful candidate will:

Deliver sales growth across the Durham operation
Improve route performance and customer numbers
Develop and support a high-performing team
Maintain excellent operational standards
Identify and secure new business opportunities
Help drive the continued growth of the Durham depot
