Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist the Head Chef in managing daily operations, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are maintained. This role offers an exciting opportunity for career progression within a vibrant hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Supervise kitchen staff and ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards.
Monitor inventory, manage ordering, and ensure proper stock rotation.
Maintain hygiene and safety standards in compliance with health regulations.
Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff.
Contribute to menu planning, development, and execution.
Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portioning.
Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.

Requirements

Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience as a Sous Chef/CDP or senior kitchen position in a similar environment.
In-depth knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP).
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Skills and Experiences:

Experience with in British, Indian, Thai & Asian cuisines.
Knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and kitchen administration.
Creative flair for developing new dishes and improving existing menus.
Familiarity with allergen control and dietary restrictions.
First Aid and Fire Safety training.
Previous experience in high-volume kitchens or within a hotel/hospitality group.
