Full job description

Job Summary

Dalston Hall is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance & Grounds Technician to help maintain our historic property, facilities, and surrounding grounds to the highest standard. This is a varied, hands-on role combining building and equipment maintenance with gardening and groundskeeping duties. The successful candidate will take pride in ensuring Dalston Hall remains safe, well-presented, and operational for our guests, visitors, and events.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs across the Hall, outbuildings, and facilities.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
Undertake general maintenance tasks including painting, basic plumbing, carpentry, and welding where required.
Maintain gardens, lawns, flower beds, hedges, trees, and landscaped areas throughout the estate.
Operate grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters.
Ensure pathways, car parks, driveways, and outdoor areas are clean, safe, and well-presented.
Assist with seasonal grounds projects, planting, pruning, and leaf clearance.
Maintain maintenance and grounds records and report any issues requiring attention.
Support the setup and upkeep of the venue for weddings, events, and guest activities.
Work safely and professionally while delivering excellent service to colleagues and guests.

Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities management, groundskeeping, or a similar role.
Good practical skills with mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
Ability to use maintenance and gardening equipment safely and effectively.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A proactive, flexible approach and pride in maintaining high standards.
