Full job description

Meikleour Estate is recruiting for a Breakfast Chef for its award-winning boutique hotel The Meikleour Arms (AA 4 Star Gold and 1 Rosette, AA Accommodations the Year Scotland 2022). Set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside outside Blairgowrie, the 1 Rosette Franco-Scottish restaurant at the Meikleour Arms is a high-end gastro pub serving quality “from field to plate” good food (it won AA Best Accommodation Scotland 2022 and AA Best Pub Scotland 2019).

We pride ourselves on offering a fantastic combination of a la carte and buffet breakfasts using fresh produce. We bake our bread and make everything from scratch. Breakfast must be the best start to the day for our guests and their perfect last meal before checking out so, it has to be a great experience. We have received the AA Breakfast Award for 3 years in a row. Our Breakfast Chef is also responsible for preparing delicious picnic baskets for our guests.

You will be joining a long-established Franco Scottish family business, with an excellent opportunity to work within a professional team. This role is perfect if you are an early bird and thrive on the buzz of the kitchen while having most of the day and evening for yourself.

Remuneration

We are offering an attractive package for this permanent position.

Hourly rate: £16.50 (£16.50/ hour + holiday pay) to £18.49
In addition you will receive an average of+ £1.50/hour expected tips bringing the package to £19.99/hour

Note about gratuities (tips):We use an HMRC compliant tronc system which ensures all of the hotel and restaurant's tips go to all of the staff. On average, staff can expect £1.50/ hour expected tips which combined is a very attractive package!

Hours of Work

Our Breakfast Chef can work 30 to 40 hours a week, with weekend availability.

Requirements

· Our ideal candidate will come from a fresh food background and a key eye for detail.

· Previous Breakfast Chef experience is essential

You must be fully aware of food safety requirements
Good knowledge of bread making would be a plus
Punctual, organised, and able to work independently
You must have your own means of transport as there are no buses early in the morning and we are in a rural area.

Responsibilities of the Breakfast Chef

You are responsible for the breakfast shift, working independently or with another chef and KP.
You will foster a good team spirit with your kitchen colleagues and our other hotel departments.
You will ensure the best consistency in quality, size, and presentation – be proud of the dishes you produce and always strive to exceed guest expectations.
Our chef will assist with the unpacking and storage of daily deliveries while monitoring stock rotation procedures, recording delivery temperatures, and ensuring that work is carried out with the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.

Notes

We are in a rural area with limited public transport. Having your own means of transport is deemed essential as no buses run through Meikleour village for the early start.
