Restaurant Assistant - Mintlaw

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and being part of a busy team? We’re looking for a friendly, motivated Restaurant Assistant to join our front of house team at our garden centre restaurant in Mintlaw.

Simpsons is one of the UK’s leading destination garden centres and a multi-award winner, including Destination Garden Centre of the Year in Scotland. As a family-run business, we pride ourselves on excellent customer service, quality food, and a welcoming atmosphere for both customers and staff.

The Role...

This position is offered on a zero hours contract, providing flexibility to work around your availability, with hours offered in line with business needs.

As a Restaurant Assistant, you’ll support the day-to-day running of our busy restaurant, helping to deliver a high standard of service and ensure a smooth and efficient customer experience.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be part of a team delivering a great dining experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Welcoming customers and providing a friendly, positive first impression
Taking customer orders and operating the till system accurately
Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks, including barista-style coffee
Delivering food and drinks to tables in a timely manner
Clearing and cleaning tables and maintaining a clean, organised restaurant area
Supporting the team during busy service periods
Handling customer enquiries in a professional and helpful manner
General day-to-day support within the restaurant
Some lifting involved (a good level of fitness is helpful)

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience working in a similar customer-facing or hospitality environment is preferred but not essential
Friendly, reliable and a strong team player
Good time management and communication skills
Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
A proactive and flexible attitude
Good attention to detail and high standards of presentation
Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
