Overview

Join our vibrant After School Club team as a Childcare Assistant in Chester le Street and become a vital part of creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children after school hours. In this energetic role, you will support children's development through fun activities, supervision, and care, ensuring each child feels valued and supported. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster a positive atmosphere where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Duties

Supervise children during after school hours, ensuring their safety at all times in accordance with established policies.
Lead and facilitate engaging activities such as arts and crafts, games, reading sessions, and educational exercises to promote learning and social interaction.
Support children with homework and learning tasks in a patient and encouraging manner.
Assist with meal or snack times, promoting healthy eating habits and good manners.
Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, needs, or concerns.
Maintain a clean, organised environment by tidying up activity areas and ensuring all equipment is safe and in good condition.
Support the planning and implementation of special events or outings that enrich the children's experience.

Qualifications

Prior experience in childcare, teaching or similar roles is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of child development principles and safety protocols.
Ability to communicate fluently in English
Passionate about working with children
Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust with children, parents, and team members.
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs within the after school program schedule.
