Job Description – Financial Controller

Reports to: Fractional Finance Director / CEO
Hours: 37.5 hours a week

Location: Eastbourne, Sussex

We are a fast-growing care company providing high-quality services to the community. We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead our finance function and support the next phase of growth.

Job Role:

This is a key role working closely with the Fractional Finance Director and the CEO, providing financial control and high-quality work in a fast paced, purpose-driven environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced SME environment, is highly organised, proactive and has a hands-on strong attention to detail.

Main Responsibilities:

Lead the day-to-day finance function, managing a small team
Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts
Strengthen financial controls, processes, and reporting
Cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
Assist with commercial insight on margins, pricing, and performance
Support operational teams with financial understanding and decision-making
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
Evaluate and improve finance systems

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential:

Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
Experience in a Financial Controller or similar role within an SME
Confident & proficient user of cloud accounting software (QuickBooks) and Excel.
Hands on and highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to grow with the company.
Strong communication skills to liaise with staff, management, and external stakeholders.

Desirable:

Experience in the care sector
Developing new systems and processes.
