Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista & Community Team Member to join our team.
As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while preparing high-quality beverages and food items. Your ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and provide exceptional customer service will be essential in ensuring a positive experience for every customer who visits Grounded.
This is a varied role that requires someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment, and is happy to support all areas of the business when needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoffee & Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
- Ensure all drinks are prepared to a consistently high standard.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all coffee-making equipment and workstations.
Food Preparation
- Manage and assist with food preparation from our all-day menu.
- Ensure all food items are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Follow food hygiene and food safety procedures at all times.
- Support the kitchen team during busy periods.
Customer Service
- Engage with customers in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Create a positive atmosphere and provide exceptional customer service.
- Support customers accessing both the café and wellness facilities.
Café Operations
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
- Operate the till and point-of-sale system.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking supplies when needed.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the café and customer areas.
Teamwork & Community
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
- Provide help and support to colleagues as required, fostering a positive team environment.
- Support events, activities, and community initiatives hosted by Grounded and Tidy Butt.
- Represent the values of Grounded and Tidy Butt through positive interactions with customers and the wider community.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous Barista experience (essential).
- Has previous experience working in a busy kitchen preparing food (essential).
- Has a strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
- Has excellent time management skills and can work efficiently under pressure.
- Has basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately.
- Has a genuine passion for coffee culture and customer service.
- Is highly organised and able to multitask in a busy environment.
- Is reliable, proactive, and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Is passionate about mental health, wellbeing, and community impact.
- Has excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Is able to work weekends and flexible hours when required.
