Cook
Location: Nursing Home
Hours: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 10.5-hour shifts
Contract: Alternate 3-day week / 4-day week rota (average 31.5 hours per week)

We are a warm, friendly, and resident-focused nursing home dedicated to providing exceptional care and a comfortable living environment for our residents. We are seeking an enthusiastic Cook to help deliver nutritious, delicious, and well-presented meals while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our kitchen.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing quality food and takes pride in contributing to the health, wellbeing, and happiness of older people.

About the Role

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals that meet residents' dietary requirements and personal preferences. Working closely with another Cook and the wider care team, you will help ensure a high-quality dining experience for all residents while maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene and kitchen organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve high-quality breakfasts, lunches, and evening meals for residents.
Ensure meals are nutritious, appetising, and tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
Monitor stock levels, assist with food ordering, and ensure stock is rotated correctly.
Work closely with nursing and care staff to support residents' nutritional needs and wellbeing.
Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth handovers and continuity of service.
Support a positive and professional working environment within the kitchen.
Provide flexibility to cover annual leave and unexpected absences when required.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working in a kitchen or catering environment.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices (training can be provided if required).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A caring, compassionate, and respectful attitude towards older people.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining high standards.
