Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Drainage Groundworker / Drain Repair Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing drainage systems on-site. This role requires a skilled professional with a solid understanding of groundworks, drainage solutions, and mechanical systems.

The position offers the opportunity to work on varied projects, ensuring efficient and effective drainage infrastructure across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

Excavating trenches and working around existing drainage infrastructure using hand tools and power tools
Installing new drainage systems, including pipes, manholes, and soakaways
Repairing or replacing damaged drain sections with precision and adherence to safety standards
Operating machinery such as excavators to assist with large-scale excavation tasks
Welding components or pipework as required to ensure secure connections
Using mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues within drainage systems
Conducting electrical checks or repairs on associated equipment when necessary
Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards
Maintaining a clean and organised work environment throughout each project

Skills

Proven experience in drainage groundworks or similar civil engineering roles
Proficiency in operating excavators and other heavy machinery
Competent with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment used in groundworks
Strong mechanical knowledge relevant to drainage systems and associated infrastructure
Electrical experience is advantageous for troubleshooting electrical components within drainage or related systems
Good understanding of health and safety procedures on construction sites
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
