Location: Ladyslaude Court, Bedford

Hours: Permanent - Part Time - 20 hours per week

Salary: £17.46 per hour

For this role, we are currently considering candidates who live within approximately 15 miles of the Scheme. This ensures commutes are manageable and support your wellbeing and work-life balance. About the role

We are looking for a confident, compassionate and experienced Care Team Leader to join our team at MHA. This is a key leadership role where you will support the Registered Care Manager in delivering high-quality, person-centred care and ensuring the safe and effective running of the service.

As a Care Team Leader, you will manage and supervise care, wellbeing and administrative staff, helping them reach their full potential through positive leadership, guidance and example. You will also take full responsibility for the service during the absence of the Care Manager and provide direct care when required.

What you will do

Lead, supervise and support care, wellbeing and administrative staff to deliver safe, effective and high-quality care.
Provide engaging leadership in line with MHA policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
Assist residents with personal care and provide health supervision and direct care when required.
Ensure residents’ rights to dignity, privacy and choice are respected at all times.
Support the Care Manager in fulfilling the duties of the Responsible Person, including record keeping and medicines management.
Ensure care and support plans, risk assessments and reviews are in place and regularly updated.
Oversee safe management of medicines, observations and competency assessments.
Support the development and delivery of education, leisure and social activities that enhance residents’ quality of life.
Undertake staff 1:1s, supervisions and appraisals, identifying training and development needs.
Support recruitment, selection and induction of staff to promote continuity of care and reduce agency use.
Work collaboratively with families, carers, health professionals and external agencies.
Promote compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Infection Control policies.
Participate in assessments for potential service users and contribute to care package planning.
Support effective communication and monitor staff attendance, performance and retention.

About you

We are looking for someone who is organised, resilient and passionate about supporting older people and leading teams.

You will bring:

Experience working in a care-related setting.
People management experience, including leading shifts or deputising for a manager.
Medication administration experience.
A good level of literacy and confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft products.
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Knowledge of dementia care and supporting older people with increased physical and emotional frailty.
The ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively and work flexibly.
Availability to work a 7-day rota, cover on-call and emergency situations, and travel occasionally for training.
A commitment to MHA’s values and promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Desirable:

Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or equivalent).
Awareness of financial plans and budget management.
