Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our care home team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing high-quality care to our residents, demonstrating leadership and supervisory skills. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals, supporting their independence and wellbeing. The Senior Care Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the care home, fostering a compassionate and respectful environment.

Duties

Deliver personalised care to residents in accordance with individual care plans, respecting their dignity and preferences
Supervise and support junior care staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure high standards of care
Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility support
Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals
Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and update care plans as necessary
Organise and participate in team meetings to ensure effective communication within the care team
Support residents’ social activities and encourage participation to promote mental and emotional wellbeing
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and infection control procedures
Contribute to the training and development of new staff members, sharing supervisory experience and leadership skills

Skills

Proven experience working within a care home environment specialising in senior care
Supervising experience with the ability to lead a team effectively
Strong communication skills to liaise with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members
Knowledge of care plans, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation
IT literacy for maintaining accurate records and documentation
Compassionate nature with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities while maintaining a caring approach
Ability to work in a team with senior management
Level 3 in care preferred but not essential
