Would you like to work for the charity that cares for hundreds of historic sites in every corner of England? We are looking for a Visitor Assistant to join us at Kirby Hall working working 8-16 hours per week (changing to a zero-hours hour contract November through to March).

No history background? No problem. What is important to us is a passion for people and excellent customer service. You will enjoy working with others as part of a team and understand what makes excellent customer service to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience.

Kirby Hall is one of England's great Elizabethan houses, set within beautiful grounds and gardens. Although partly ruined, the site retains a strong sense of its former grandeur and offers visitors the chance to explore its impressive architecture, historic spaces and peaceful surroundings. The Visitor Assistant team plays an important role in helping visitors enjoy and understand the site, while ensuring Kirby Hall remains welcoming, safe and well presented.

By joining us as a Kirby Hall Visitor Assistant, you will be part of an amazing team of employees and volunteers, ensuring visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye.

Through your recommendations, you will help personalise their visit. This could include talking about the benefits of English Heritage membership, recommending things to see and do on site, or helping visitors make the most of their time at Kirby Hall.

You will also contribute to making sure the site is accessible, safe and well presented at all times.

It is a varied role. Some days will be busy from start to finish, while others may be quieter, especially on wetter days. Some paid or voluntary experience with the public is beneficial, but full training and support will be provided as part of your induction.

You will be required to work though the summer holiday period including weekends and Bank Holidays. More information will be provided at interview.
