Are you an experienced and dedicated professional in the field of civil enforcement looking for a rewarding opportunity within a dynamic local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Civil Enforcement Officer to join our Transport and Countryside Service, working alongside the Shift Leader - Civil Enforcement Officer, to ensure the effective enforcement of parking regulations and contribute to the smooth operation of transport services in the region.

The Role

As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for:

Conducting regular patrols to monitor and enforce parking regulations, issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) as necessary.
Ensuring compliance with parking restrictions, including resident permits, disabled badges, and other exemptions.
Investigating and resolving parking-related enquiries and complaints from the public.
Gathering evidence for enforcement actions, including taking photographs and preparing detailed reports.
Attending court hearings and providing evidence as required.
Working collaboratively with other teams and external stakeholders to address parking issues and implement improvements.
Contributing to the overall transport and countryside objectives of the Council.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Proven experience in civil enforcement, preferably within a local authority environment.
Sound knowledge of parking legislation, regulations, and enforcement practices.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with members of the public in challenging situations.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
Attention to detail, ensuring accurate record-keeping and report writing.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and external partners.
Driving licence and willingness to travel across West Berkshire.
