Full job description

We are expanding our team of community based child contact supervisors into the Bedfordshire area and looking for candidates with at least 2 years experience working with families and children that can accommodate a flexible bank role into their lives. We welcome applicants from across the county. Perhaps you are balancing family commitments, easing into semi-retirement or working part time ?

As a Child Contact Supervisor, you will oversee time safe and supportive family time between children and their non-resident parents or significant others. Child contact services offer time for children to nurture or re-establish contact with a parent or their significant others not currently living with them. The children we work with may be living with a parent, an extended family member or foster carers

A typical contact session is around 2-3hrs and are often weekly, so regular availability is essential. Sessions often happen at weekends so you must be able to commit to some hours regularly on a weekend and outside school hours, when needed as this is often when the children are free. As a family would be often allocated to you it is essential you can cover their sessions which often would be weekly. There will not be large volumes of families allocated to you so the primary thing is that your availability is on the same day each week.

We also train you to be a Family Support Worker as this may be needed in time as part of your role.

Report writing is required so applicants must own computer with MS word and have excellent written and spoken English. Reports are used by social workers and courts so need to be to a very high standard, report writing training is given.

All roles are zero-hour bank contracts, as we cannot guarantee hours due to the demand driven nature of our work. Please note there will be periods with no families needing support in your area

You would be expected to drive up to one hour to facilitate sessions, any further would be at your discretion in accepting a family, but this is community based so owning a car is essential. Travel time and mileage is paid for all community based work from your home to where support is needed

This role requires an Enhanced DBS, if you do not have one you will need to commit to paying for one if successful. Full training on Child Contact Supervision and Family Support will be given.

Previous experience working with families is essential Salary is £14-£16 per hour based on day of the week worked. This is an employed position.
